New research into the effectiveness of Low Carb and Low Fat diets has been conducted by Lydia Brazzano of Tulane University in New Orleans. The study took 148 obese men and women and measured the results of these diet over a twelve month period. Half the controlled group followed a low carb diet plans and the other followed a low fat regime. The low carb group showed a quicker rate of weight loss (an average 8lbs more over the year) and maintained greater muscle mass than the low fat group resulting in a tie in weight loss round the waist for both groups at the end of the year. The conclusion . . . a balanced diet is the best way to lose and maintain weight . . .
